Proteinogenic Amino Acids 20 are encoded DNA
Proteinogenic amino acids are the set of 22 amino acids that are used in biological protein synthesis. Only 21 of the amino acids occur in eukaryotes, and only 20 are encoded directly in the genetic code. The other 2, selenocysteine and pyrrolysine, are not directly encoded by DNA - they have special synthesis pathways.
